NR171 Community Development: Past, Present, and Future

This course offers a comprehensive exploration of community development—its origins, accomplishments, and the strategic challenges ahead. You'll examine the movement's history through photographs and engaging discussions on mission sustainability, government and funder relationships, and community organizing. Site visits to cutting-edge organizations provide firsthand insight into successful strategies. You'll develop critical thinking skills to analyze organizational issues, define your mission, set priorities, and create actionable strategies for neighborhood revitalization.
