NeighborWorks America Welcomes Greenville Housing Fund to the NeighborWorks Network
Washington, D.C. – NeighborWorks® America announced that Greenville Housing Fund (GHF), Greenville, South Carolina, has become the newest member of the national NeighborWorks network. The NeighborWorks network is a group of high-performing community and housing development nonprofit organizations committed to increasing homeownership and financial capability, and empowering residents to work together to advance economic opportunity. Membership in the NeighborWorks network gives GHF access to new sources of flexible funds for local housing investment and job creation. In addition to new capital for homeownership programs, network membership increases proximity to housing industry leadership and to a laboratory of proven strategies that successfully bring private and government investment together to increase the supply of affordable homes.
Greenville Housing Fund received its official NeighborWorks charter during a special chartering event August 19 that included City of Greenville Mayor Knox White, along with several local and state elected officials, and staff from the offices of U.S. Rep. William Timmons (SC-4) and U.S. Senator Tim Scott (SC).
“Greenville Housing Fund is a strong addition to the NeighborWorks network,” said NeighborWorks America President &CEO Marietta Rodriguez. “It is the only affiliate working in the Upstate region of South Carolina and since its beginning nearly seven years ago, has shown commitment and creativity to preserving and creating affordable housing for more than 1,800 households.”
“This is a milestone achievement for GHF and is a huge deal for Greenville, as we are already starting to discover and benefit from the many resources that NeighborWorks brings to its partner communities,” said Bryan Brown, President and CEO of GHF.
