NeighborWorks member Community Preservation and Development Corp. (CPDC) has long worked to transcend boundaries to improve the lives of Washington, DC, residents.

As part of its commitment to help stabilize and revitalize the communities it serves, Community Housing Partners (CHP) hosted five residents from The Summit Apartments in Hopewell, VA, at NeighborWorks America’s October Community Leadership Institute in Louisville, KY.

In May of 1997, NeighborWorks Great Falls approached local school district officials with an idea for a construction-skills training opportunity for high school students. The thought was to build homes using the students from the advanced building trades classes, starting in the fall of 1998 to provide plenty of time for planning.

NeighborWorks America is well known for its training of professionals, but training residents at the local level is equally important. At NeighborWorks member Chinatown Community Development Center (CDC), a foundational principal is to develop the leadership potential of the residents it serves.

On June 4 and 5, Richland Center, WI, will host the third annual Ocoochapalooza, a downtown neighborhood celebration featuring free live music, arts-and-crafts booths, business specials, and fames such as Human Foosball and Family Feud. The event was first organized  by NeighborWorks member Neighborhood Housing Services of Southwest

Ponce Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) is helping a group of residents transform an abandoned garden in the rural community of La Moca, Puerto Rico, into a community farm growing herbs for homemade “sofrito” that can be sold at market.

In 2014, NeighborWorks Montana approached the Northwood Trailer Park in the city of Pablo to let the residents know their community was for sale. That’s when they met Mary, who had a deep desire to improve her community.
