To meet the growing need for housing and services for lower-income seniors, NeighborWorks network organization Nevada HAND (Housing and Neighborhood Development) is developing its latest senior housing development, the Buffalo Cactus Senior Apartments, in Las Vegas. When it opens in mid-2025, this senior living community will provide 125 new affordable housing units for seniors with annual incomes between 30% and 60% of the area median income.
NeighborWorks America President & CEO Marietta Rodriguez joined the Women in Housing & Finance organization for a Public Policy Lunch this week, the first week of Women’s History Month.

This week, NeighborWorks America welcomed more than 1,200 community development practitioners from across the country to the NeighborWorks Training Institute, the premier professional learning event for community development and affordable housing professionals in the country. The event was held in Philadelphia, known as the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.
Jacqueline Pata, executive director of Haa Yakaawu Financial Corp., and her daughter, Jamie Gomez, stood side by side. “Tsu héidei shugax̱tootáan, yáa yaa ḵ̱oosgé daakeit, haa jeexʼ a náḵ̱,” they sang in Tlingit, blessing the chartering ceremony for the organization as they officially joined the NeighborWorks network.
